WOMEN IN STEM

Now-a-days it gives an immense pleasure to see that women are being given their place in variety of fields. Women are setting one milestone after the other in almost every field. They are increasingly setting their own paradigms of work as well as healthily balancing their home.  Women in workplace or particularly in STEM ( Science, Technology ,Engineering and Mathematics)  are well aware of the fact that sacrifices are expected of them. It is a way of life for them. Society thinks that women can’t succeed in STEM as they are more comfortable in so called traditional factors like teaching and banking. But this mentality is wrong, they can succeed in whatever field they want to. Women have traditionally been accorded lower status in society, particularly in India, where gender discrimination is so common. Still girls are not allowed to pick their favorite field when it comes to STEM. But this is wrong, there are various women who have succeeded in STEM too and has proved this society wrong. For the uplifting of this society, uplift of women is very important in every field, all we need to do is to understand this and to encourage women in their interested field. Biasness towards women is just like any other social issue. We can only try and mitigate its effects, by creating awareness in every possible way.

Artificial Intelligence: The Next Big Thing

Artificial Intelligence is the intelligence and awareness demonstrated by machines when they are subjected to different complex conditions. Artificial Intelligence or AI also refers to a branch of study which deals with the manufacturing of self-aware and intelligent machines. Artificial intelligence research has seen some major advancements over the last decade. They are even some companies or Multinational firms who have partially or fully assigned their working and functioning to an Artificially Designed brain. In future, I think there would be more companies assigning all their responsibilities to AI machines owing to their more reliable and efficient decision making than humans. There are certain feature films which have shown AI machines or brains come to power and I don’t think that time is far away when this world would realize that dream. These type of machines normally work on certain principles under which they have to operate. They are not prone to any type of emotional or social insecurity unlike humans, so they can make decisions fast and unbiased too. So far, we have reached the phase where we can infuse our daily routine or commands in a machine and the machine would perform it efficiently without any fail. Artificial Intelligence is something which can be given to machines by humans via some codes which are life binding for them, so the person himself needs to be unbiased and innovative most of all and we the BMITians are all about “innovation’.
